I recently stumbled into a little bit of money that would allow me to purchase books for a classroom library. The prospect of new books has always felt like finding buried treasure and I immediately started looking for titles. Years ago the Maus series was introduced to me and it’s heartbreaking story of generational pain through both the written and visual work had me hooked. Years later the March series written by and about John Lewis’ Civil Rights contributions was an amazing use of the Graphic Novel format. When I heard about this funding I immediately went in search of new titles and mined my favorite resource… my Twitter PLN. There are too many people to thank so instead I will share the list of books that HAVE BEEN PURCHASED (!) along with my list of books I hope to get next year! The books below have links to Amazon but that is for convenience only. Shop Local if you can.
